🕒 The 'Now' and 'Then' Pattern

In this text, we see two ways to talk about time. This is the key to moving from A1 to A2.

1. Things that happened (Past) Look at the words ending in -ed. These tell us the action is finished.

  • met (past of meet)
  • changed \rightarrow it happened already
  • stopped \rightarrow it is over
  • helped \rightarrow the action is done

2. Things happening (Present) Look at the verbs that describe a current situation. They do not have -ed.

  • are fighting \rightarrow happening right now
  • uses \rightarrow a current habit/action
  • is buying \rightarrow happening these days

Quick Logic: Finished \rightarrow -ed (mostly) Now \rightarrow is/are + -ing or simple verb
