💡 The 'Want' Pattern

In this story, we see how to express a desire for something or someone. It is a key building block for A2 English.

1. Want + Object When you want a thing, just put the thing after the word.

  • Trump wants Greenland.
  • The US wants the land.
  • → I want coffee.

2. Want + To + Action When you want to do something, you must use to before the action verb.

  • He wants to stop Russia.
  • He wants to buy Greenland.
  • → I want to sleep.

Quick Note: Notice that we do not say "He wants stop." We always add to for the action! 🚀
