Introduction

President Emmanuel Macron visited Damascus on July 6 and 7. He is the first leader from the European Union to visit Syria since December 2024.

France and Syria want to be friends and do business. French companies want to help with the airport and energy. France will also help Syria build hospitals and fix roads.
