The 'Past Story' Pattern

When we tell a story about something that happened and finished, we often add -ed to the action word.

Look at these examples from the text:

  • Disappear \rightarrow Disappeared
  • Want \rightarrow Wanted
  • Delete \rightarrow Deleted
  • Check \rightarrow Checked

The Simple Rule: If you want to talk about yesterday or last week, just put -ed at the end of the word. It tells the listener: "This is over now."

Watch out! Some words are 'rebels' and change completely. They don't use -ed.

  • Go \rightarrow Went (Not "goed")
  • Find \rightarrow Found (Not "finded")

Quick Guide for A2:

  • Action + -ed = Finished action.
  • Action is a 'rebel' = Learn the special word (like went).
