Main Body

Children must be U.S. citizens to have an account. Adults or government offices can open the account. Some children get free money to start. Children born between 2025 and 2028 get $1,000. Other children from poor areas get $250.

People can put up to $5,000 in the account every year. The money goes into a special stock fund called the S&P 500. Bank of New York Mellon and Robinhood help manage the money.

Some people like this plan. They say it helps poor people save money. Other people do not like it. They say the rules are too hard. They also worry that people will pay a fine if they take money out too early.
