💡 The "People vs. Person" Secret

Look at these words from the text:

  • Polish people
  • these people

The Rule: When we talk about a group of humans, we use People. It is always plural. You cannot say "a people" (for one person) or "peoples" (usually).

Pattern: One person \rightarrow Poland has one president. Many people \rightarrow Poland has many people.

🛠️ Action Words: Now vs. Then

Notice how the story jumps between the past and now:

THE PAST (Finished)THE NOW (General Fact)
soldiers killedPoland calls
soldiers foughtRussia is
leaders took awayTusk says

Quick Tip: If it happened in 1943, add -ed (mostly). If it is happening today, just use the basic word or add -s.
