When we tell a story about something that already happened, we change the action word. Look at how the words move from Now Then:
- Meet Met
- Hit Hit (Stays the same!)
- Write Wrote
- Move Moved
Quick Tip: Most words just need an -ed at the end to go to the past (like move moved). But some words are "rebels" and change completely (like write wrote).
Example from the text: "The police did not write a report." Here, we use did not to say "no" in the past. You don't need to change write to wrote because did already does the work!
