🗝️ The 'Past' Pattern

In this story, we see how to talk about things that already happened. Notice these words:

  • told (from tell) \rightarrow The government told the app...
  • had (from have) \rightarrow The movie had different names...
  • tried (from try) \rightarrow The filmmakers tried to go...
  • disappeared (from disappear) \rightarrow He disappeared in 1995.

Quick Rule: To move a basic action into the past, we often just add -ed to the end. If the word is special (like tell or have), it changes completely.

🧱 Building Sentences with 'Too'

Look at this phrase: "too many problems."

When we use too, it means "more than we want" or "more than is okay."

  • Too many \rightarrow Used for things we can count (problems, people, movies).
  • Too much \rightarrow Used for things we cannot count (water, time, noise).

💡 Word Swap: 'Still' vs 'Now'

  • Now = At this moment \rightarrow Now, people are watching...
  • Still = No change from before \rightarrow The movie is still banned...
