The "Want" Pattern

In this text, we see a very important word for A2 students: Wants.

When we talk about a person's goals or desires, we use this pattern: Person → wants → to + action

  • He wants to play fast.
  • He wants to help his team.
  • He wants to start a new life.

Quick Tip: If you talk about I, You, We, or They, remove the 's': → I want to play.They want to win.


Word Building: The "-working" End

Look at the word Hardworking. It combines two simple words to describe a person: Hard (with effort) + Working (doing a job) = Hardworking (a person who puts in a lot of effort).

Example from text: "Darryn Peterson... is very hardworking."
