🚩 The 'Number-Age' Pattern

Look at how the text describes people. It uses a very specific pattern to talk about age:

  • 28-year-old man
  • 16-year-old boy
  • 15-year-old boy
  • 46-year-old man

How it works: Number →\rightarrow year →\rightarrow old →\rightarrow person

The Secret Rule: When we use the age as a description before the person, we use hyphens (-). This turns the age into one big adjective.

Compare these two:

  1. The man is 46 years old. (Normal sentence)
  2. He is a 46-year-old man. (Description pattern)

Try using this for your own life: Your age+ext−year−old+extstudent\text{Your age} + ext{-year-old} + ext{student} →\rightarrow Example: I am a 20-year-old student.
