🕒 The 'Time Travel' Trick (Past Tense)

To reach A2, you must talk about things that already happened. Look at these words from the story:

  • SAY \rightarrow SAID
  • KILL \rightarrow KILLED
  • FIND \rightarrow FOUND
  • START \rightarrow STARTED

How it works: Most English words just need an -ed at the end to go to the past (like started). But some are 'rebels' and change completely (like say becoming said).

👥 Who is doing what? (The 'S' Rule)

Notice the difference in these two sentences:

  1. "Tahir Hussain is guilty" (One person \rightarrow is)
  2. "Five men are guilty" (Many people \rightarrow are)

Keep it simple:

  • 1 Person \rightarrow Is / Was
  • 2+ People \rightarrow Are / Were

📦 Useful Word Pairings

Instead of learning one word, learn the pair:

  • Political + Party (A group of people in government)
  • Start + Fires (To make a fire begin)
  • Be + Guilty (To do something wrong/illegal)
