Barcelona Wins the League and Keeps Their Coach

Introduction

FC Barcelona won the Spanish league for the 29th time. The coach, Hansi Flick, will stay with the team for more years.

Main Body

Hansi Flick signed a new contract. He will stay until 2028. The team won many trophies, but they did not win the Champions League. They want to win that trophy next year. Joan Garcia is the goalkeeper. He is very good and did not let many goals in. He wants to win a special prize for goalkeepers. The coach has a plan. He might use other players in the last three games. This helps Joan Garcia keep his good record and win the prize.

Conclusion

Barcelona is the champion. They have a coach for the future and a plan for their goalkeeper.

🕒 Talking about the Future

In this text, we see two ways to talk about things that haven't happened yet. This is a key jump for A2 learners.

1. The Certain Future (Will) Use will when something is a fact or a decided plan.

  • He will stay until 2028 \rightarrow (It is a signed contract, it is certain).
  • They will stay with the team \rightarrow (Confirmed).

2. The Possible Future (Might) Use might when you are not 100% sure. It is a 'maybe'.

  • He might use other players \rightarrow (The coach is thinking about it, but hasn't decided yet).

🚫 The 'Did Not' Pattern

To say something didn't happen in the past, we use did not + basic verb. Notice that the verb does not change to a past form.

  • did not won \rightarrow did not win
  • did not letted \rightarrow did not let

Quick Comparison:

  • Positive: The team won (Past form)
  • Negative: The team did not win (Basic form)
