The Spaghetti House Restaurants Close

Introduction

Lavval Restaurants Limited is the company for Spaghetti House. The company has no money. Now, all restaurants are closed and the workers lost their jobs.

Main Body

Two men from a business company took control on May 6, 2026. They closed five restaurants in central London. Three other restaurants closed before. In total, 101 people lost their jobs. Two men started the company in 1955. It was the oldest family Italian restaurant in London. They sold real Italian food. In 1975, some bad people took people as prisoners in one restaurant for six days. Luigi Lavarini is the boss. He says the business failed because things cost too much. Electricity and taxes were expensive. Also, COVID-19 and Brexit hurt the business. People have less money now, so they do not eat at restaurants.

Conclusion

The Spaghetti House is now closed. It worked in London for seventy years.

🕰️ Talking about the Past

Look at how the story describes things that already happened. We change the action word (verb) to show it is finished.

The Pattern: Add '-ed'

  • Close \rightarrow Closed
  • Work \rightarrow Worked

The Exception: The 'Changing' Words Some words don't follow the rule. You must memorize these common ones from the text:

  • Have \rightarrow Had (No money)
  • Sell \rightarrow Sold (Italian food)
  • Lose \rightarrow Lost (Their jobs)

💰 Money Words

To reach A2, you need to describe a business. Use these simple pairs:

  • Expensive \leftrightarrow Cheap
  • Cost too much \rightarrow When something is expensive.
  • Less money \rightarrow When you are poorer than before.
