Baseball Team Rankings for Week 7

Introduction

The Atlanta Braves are now the number one team in baseball. They are better than the Los Angeles Dodgers now.

Main Body

The Braves score many points and stop other teams from scoring. The Dodgers are lower now because they do not hit many home runs. Some teams are changing their players. The New York Yankees have new pitchers. The Miami Marlins are using young players and letting old players go. Some players are very fast. One player from Milwaukee throws the ball very fast. The San Diego Padres are in first place in their group, but the Boston Red Sox are playing very badly at home.

Conclusion

Some teams are very strong. Other teams are changing their players to become better.

Learning

Comparing Things

In this text, we see how to describe one thing as 'more' than another. This is key for A2 English.

The Pattern: Better than \rightarrow (Something is superior) Lower \rightarrow (A position is further down)

Example from text: "They are better than the Los Angeles Dodgers now."

Action Words (Verbs)

Notice how the text describes what teams are doing right now:

  1. Doing something: Score, Stop, Hit
  2. Changing things: Changing, Using, Letting go

Simple Tip: Use "-ing" when a team is in the middle of a process. Example: The Marlins are using young players.
