πŸ•’ Talking About the Past

In this story, things already happened. To tell these stories, we change the action words (verbs).

The Pattern: Adding -ed Most words just need -ed at the end to move to the past:

  • Arrest β†’\rightarrow Arrested
  • Look β†’\rightarrow Looked
  • Stop β†’\rightarrow Stopped

The Rule Breakers Some words change completely. You just have to remember them:

  • Go β†’\rightarrow Went
  • Say β†’\rightarrow Said
  • Die β†’\rightarrow Died

Quick View

  • Present: He is in jail. β†’\rightarrow Past: He was in the laundry room.
  • Present: They put flowers. β†’\rightarrow Past: They put flowers. (Some words stay the same!)
