Punjab Government Limits Private School Fees

Introduction

The Punjab government is making a new law. This law will stop private schools from raising fees too much.

Main Body

Schools can only raise fees by 5 per cent each year. Schools must show they spent money to improve the school before they raise prices. If schools raise fees too much, they must give the money back to parents.

Schools that break the law will pay a fine. The fine is between 30,000 and 1 lakh rupees. If a school breaks the law again, the government will close the school.

This law started after a sad event in Amritsar. A 17-year-old student killed himself because of school fee problems. Now, the government wants to protect 32 lakh students in 7,800 schools.

Conclusion
