Introduction

The US House of Representatives wants to stop the President from fighting a war with Iran. The two countries are trying to stop the fighting, but it is difficult.

美國眾議院希望阻止總統與伊朗開戰。兩國正嘗試停止衝突,但過程十分困難。

Main Body

Some US leaders want to bring soldiers home from Iran. They say the war is too expensive. They also say the war is not legal.

部分美國領導人希望將士兵從伊朗接回國。他們認為這場戰爭成本太高,且並不合法。

Fighting continues in the region. The US attacked an island. Iran attacked an airport and US buildings. Many people are hurt.

The US and Iran are talking. Pakistan is helping them talk. Iran says they will stop fighting if Israel stops fighting in Lebanon.

Conclusion

The situation is dangerous. Leaders are talking, but soldiers are still fighting.

⚡️ The 'WANT' Power

In this text, we see a very useful word for A2 learners: Want.

It tells us what people desire or plan to do. Look at how it works:

  • Want to [Action] \rightarrow The House wants to stop the President.
  • Want to [Action] \rightarrow Leaders want to bring soldiers home.

The Rule: When you want to do something, just use: Want + to + verb.

Simple Swap:

  • Instead of "I wish to go," say \rightarrow "I want to go."
  • Instead of "They desire to help," say \rightarrow "They want to help."
