Vocabulary Learning
🕒 Talking about the Past
In the story, we see how to change words to show something happened yesterday or last week. Most words just need -ed at the end.
- play played
- practicing practiced (general rule)
- want wanted
- change changed
⚠️ The 'Rule-Breakers'
Some words are special. They don't follow the -ed rule. You just have to memorize them:
- Win Won
- Score Scored (This one follows the rule!)
- Be (is/are) Was/Were
Example from text: "England won 1-0." Not 'winned'. "Tuchel was not happy." Not 'is' because the game is over.
🚩 Quick Tip: The 'Not' Pattern
To say something didn't happen in the past, use did not + the normal word:
(Notice we don't say 'did not followed'!)
