🧩 The "Who is Doing What" Map

In this text, we see people and their current actions. To reach A2, you must master how to describe current situations and future plans.

1. Right Now (The "-ing" form) When someone is in the middle of an action, we add -ing to the verb. Look at these examples from the text:

  • Counting \rightarrow The officials are counting votes.
  • Fighting \rightarrow Spencer and Nithya are fighting for 2nd place.
  • Looking \rightarrow Bill is looking for fraud.

Simple Rule: Use am/is/are + Verb-ing to describe a scene happening today.

2. The Future Plan (Going to) When we are sure about a future step, we use going to.

"The Republican party is going to the Supreme Court."

This means the action hasn't happened yet, but it is the plan.

3. Word Power: Opinion Words Notice how the text shows different feelings using simple adjectives:

  • Angry \rightarrow Not happy (The people).
  • Fair \rightarrow Right/Honest (Trump/Musk say it is not fair).
  • Correct \rightarrow True/Right (Newsom says the rules are correct).
  • Normal \rightarrow Usual/Expected (Ted Lieu says this is normal).
