The hotel did not have the right papers. It had a license for tea and snacks, but it was a big restaurant. The license ended in March. The hotel also did not have a fire safety paper.

🕒 Time-Travel Words (Past vs. Present)

Look at how the story changes from Now to Then. To reach A2, you must notice how verbs change shape to tell us when something happened.

The 'Past' Shape (Finished Actions)

  • Started (Start → Started)
  • Left (Leave → Left)
  • Grew (Grow → Grew)
  • Did not call (Do not call → Did not call)

The 'Now' Shape (Ongoing Actions)

  • Are looking (Happening right now)
  • Are waiting (Happening right now)

💡 The Golden Rule: When you see -ed or a weird word like left, the action is over. When you see are + -ing, the action is still moving.
