⚡ The "Not" Pattern
In this text, we see a very common way to describe problems using not. This is the fastest way for an A2 student to start describing things that are wrong.
How it works:
Subject + is/are/were + not + Adjective
Examples from the story:
- She was not dangerous. → (She was safe)
- Guards were not kind. → (They were mean)
- This is not enough. → (We need more)
- Prisons are not safe. → (They are dangerous)
Why this helps you: Instead of learning difficult words like "hazardous" or "insufficient," you can just use not + a simple word to explain your point clearly.
Quick Reference:
- Safe Not safe
- Kind Not kind
- Enough Not enough
