⚡ The 'Action' Pattern

Look at how we describe things that happened in the past:

  • knew \rightarrow (now: know)
  • asked \rightarrow (now: ask)
  • attacked \rightarrow (now: attack)
  • told \rightarrow (now: tell)

The Rule: To talk about yesterday or a story, we often add -ed to the end of the word. Some words are 'special' (like knew and told) and change their shape completely.

🛠️ Building a Negative Sentence

How do we say 'No' for actions?

Subject + did not + Action

Example from text: "Charity did not pay the money."

Notice: We use "did not," and the action word (pay) stays in its simple form. We don't say "did not paid."

📦 Useful Word Pairs

  • Keep a secret \rightarrow To not tell anyone.
  • Hide pain \rightarrow To pretend you are okay.
