約有 100 個國家的 3 萬人參加了此次展覽。許多亞洲公司也在此出席。由於中東地區目前存在問題,加拿大希望透過向全球銷售能源來提供協助。部長 Tim Hodgson 表示,加拿大擁有豐富的石油與天然氣。

Canada wants to build new ports and pipes. But some parts of Canada do not agree. Alberta wants a new pipe to the coast. British Columbia does not want this pipe. No private companies want to pay for it yet.

加拿大希望建設新港口與管道。但加拿大部分地區並不贊同。亞伯達省希望能建一座通往海岸的新管道,但卑詩省並不希望如此。目前尚無私營企業願意出資。

Some people talk about Alberta leaving Canada. This is a big problem. Business people worry about their money if Alberta leaves the country.

有些人討論亞伯達省脫離加拿大,這是一個嚴重的問題。商業人士擔心如果亞伯達省脫離國家,會影響他們的資金。

Conclusion

The show helps Canada sell energy. But it also shows that Canadian provinces still fight about pipes.

此次展覽有助於加拿大銷售能源,但同時也顯示出加拿大各省之間仍為管道問題而爭執。

Vocabulary Learning

🌍 Location & People

In this text, we see how to talk about where people are. This is key for A2 English.

The Pattern: [People] + are + [Place]

  • Government leaders... are there.
  • 30,000 people... are at the show.
  • Many companies... are here.

Quick Guide:

  • There → Used when the place was already mentioned (Calgary).
  • Here → Used when the speaker is in that place.
  • At the [event] → Used for specific gatherings (the show).

🛠️ The "Want" Tool

We use want to talk about goals or desires. Look at how it changes based on who is acting:

  1. Canada wants (One country \rightarrow add 's')
  2. Some parts... do not agree (Plural \rightarrow use 'do not')
  3. No private companies want (Plural \rightarrow no 's')

Example Transformation: I want \rightarrow Canada wants \rightarrow They want
