The Power of "WANT TO"

In this story, we see a pattern that is perfect for A2 learners. When a company or person has a goal, we use: Want to + Action.

Look at these examples from the text:

  • Some want to sell to big businesses.
  • They want to make a lot of money.
  • They want to sell shares.

How it works: It is like a bridge. Person/Company \rightarrow want to \rightarrow do something.

Simple Switch: If you change the person, the verb stays mostly the same:

  • I want to learn English.
  • Google wants to help people.
  • We want to travel.

Quick Note: Notice that we don't say "want for sell" or "want make". Always keep the "to" before the action word!
