📉 The 'Up and Down' Logic

In this text, we see how English describes changes. When things change in price or feeling, we use specific pairs:

The Action \rightarrow The Opposite

  • Went up \rightarrow Went down
  • Expensive \rightarrow Cheaper
  • Better \rightarrow Worse (Sad)

Quick Look: How to use these

  1. Money direction: "Gas prices went up" (More money needed) \rightarrow "Gas prices fell" (Less money needed).

  2. Price levels: "Very expensive" (High cost) \rightarrow "Cheaper" (Lower cost).

Why this helps you reach A2: If you can describe if something is increasing or decreasing, you can talk about almost any situation in a city, like shopping, travel, or weather.
