💡 The Power of "Do Not"
In this text, we see a pattern used to say something is not happening or someone disagrees. This is the simplest way to make a negative sentence in English.
The Pattern:
Person/Thing do not action
From the text:
- The shops and offices are closed. (State)
- They do not like. (Action/Feeling)
- The internet does not work. (Action)
Wait! Why "does not"? We use do not for many people (They/We/You). We use does not for one thing (The internet/He/She).
Quick Example for A2:
- I do not like the rain.
- The phone does not work.
