🕒 Talking about the Past and Future

In this story, we see three ways to talk about time. For a beginner, this is the secret to moving to A2.

1. Right Now (Present)

  • "The road is in bad condition."
  • Use is or are to describe things as they are today.

2. What Happened (Past)

  • "The MCG had four zones."
  • "This change started on June 15."
  • Notice the word had (the past of 'have') and started (just add -ed to the end of the word).
  • Pattern: Action + -ed \rightarrow Yesterday/Past.

3. What Will Happen (Future)

  • "The work will finish in January 2027."
  • Whenever you talk about a date in the future, use will. It is the simplest way to predict the future.
  • Pattern: Will + Action \rightarrow Future.
