Main Body

One group wants migrants to leave Italy. They want the government to pay migrants to go home. This group used old symbols from a bad leader named Mussolini.

Another group protested against them. These people say that all humans have rights. They think the first group is mean to foreigners.

Italy needs workers for farms and building houses. The government wants more legal workers because many Italian people are old. They want nearly 500,000 new workers by 2028.

Europe also has a new plan for asylum. Some people think the plan is too weak. Other people think the plan is too hard on migrants.

💡 The 'Contrast' Pattern

When we talk about two different ideas, we use 'One... Another...' or 'Some... Other...'. This is a great way to move from A1 to A2 English.

From the text:

  • One group wants migrants to leave \rightarrow Another group protested against them.
  • Some people think the plan is too weak \rightarrow Other people think it is too hard.

🛠️ Word Power: Simple Opposites

Notice how the article uses simple words to show a fight between two ideas:

  • Legal (Follows the law) \leftrightarrow Illegal (Breaks the law)
  • Weak (Not strong) \leftrightarrow Hard (Strict/Strong)

📌 Quick Tip: Using 'Want'

In A2 English, we use Want + Person + To + Action to say what we desire for others:

  • "They want the government to pay migrants."
  • "The government wants more legal workers."
