Introduction

People in Switzerland voted on a new law. They did not want a limit on the number of people in the country.

Main Body

One political party wanted a limit of 10 million people by 2050. They wanted to stop some people from moving to Switzerland. This would stop a special agreement with the European Union.

Some people liked this idea. They said there are too many people. They said houses are too expensive. They worried about their culture.

But the government and big companies said no. They said Switzerland needs workers from other countries. For example, many doctors in Switzerland are from other countries. The economy needs these people to grow.

Conclusion

About 55% of people voted no. Switzerland will keep its agreements with the European Union.
