Introduction
Doctors from a university in California helped a man with a serious illness. He cannot speak, so they gave him a special computer chip in his brain.
Main Body
Doctors put small wires in the man's brain. The chip reads his brain signals. Then, the computer changes these signals into words. The chip is very good. It is correct 99% of the time.
The man used the chip at home for almost two years. He spoke many sentences and used a computer mouse with his mind. He can now work and talk to people again.
The chip has a privacy button to delete data. Some doctors say the surgery is dangerous. Other doctors say the chip might stop working after a long time.
Conclusion
The chip is now a real medical tool. It helps the man talk and work again.

The 'Ability' Pattern
Look at how the text describes what the man can and cannot do. This is the most important part of A2 English: talking about possibility and skill.
The Logic:
- CANNOT (Negative/Impossible) He cannot speak.
- CAN (Positive/Possible) He can now work.
Real-World Use: Use this pattern to describe your own life.
- I can speak a little English.
- I cannot speak Japanese.
Quick Tip: Notice that after can or cannot, the action word (speak, work) stays simple. We do not add "s" or "ing".
Examples from the text:
- "He cannot speak"
- "He can now work"
