⚓ Moving from 'Now' to 'Then'

In this story, we see two ways to talk about time. If you want to reach A2, you must know when to use the Past (finished) and the Present (happening now).

1. The 'Finished' Action (Past) Look at these words from the text:

  • Worked \rightarrow (They are not working there now).
  • Saved \rightarrow (The rescue is over).
  • Sank \rightarrow (The ship is already at the bottom of the sea).

Rule: Add -ed to most words to move them to the past. Some words are 'rebels' and change completely (like Sank).

2. The 'Right Now' Action (Present) Look at these phrases:

  • Are now going home
  • Are on a boat

Rule: Use Am/Is/Are + Word ending in -ing to describe things happening at this exact moment.

Quick Comparison:

  • Saved (Past) \rightarrow It happened on June 11.
  • Returning (Present) \rightarrow They are moving toward India right now.
