Look at how the text talks about things that already happened. To move to A2, you need to recognize Action Words that change to show the past.
The Pattern:
- Win Won
- Beat Beat (stays same!)
- Play Played
- Try Tried
- Lose Lost
Quick Rule: Most words just need -ed at the end (like played). But some are "rebels" and change completely (like win becoming won).
Real Example from Text:
- "Farah O’Keefe played very well."
- "She won five games."
Why this matters: If you want to tell a story about your weekend or a game, you cannot use "win" or "play." You must use these past versions to be understood.
