⏱️ The 'Age-Link' Pattern
In English, when we describe someone's age as a label (like a name), we use hyphens. Look at these examples from the text:
- A 16-year-old boy
- A 27-year-old man
- A 23-year-old woman
The Rule:
When the age comes before the person, we use this pattern:
Number + -year-old + Person.
Watch out! Notice that we say "year," not "years."
❌ A 16-years-old boy (Wrong) ✅ A 16-year-old boy (Right)
Compare it to a normal sentence: If the age comes after the person, the hyphen disappears and the 's' returns:
- The boy is 16 years old.
- The man is 27 years old.
Quick Summary:
Label (Before name) 16-year-old
Sentence (After name) 16 years old
