Vocabulary Learning

🚫 Saying 'No' in the Past

In this story, we see a pattern for saying someone did not do something. To talk about the past, we use did not + action word.

Look at these examples from the text:

  • The driver \rightarrow did not stop.
  • The driver \rightarrow did not look.

Why is this helpful? Usually, past words change (like move \rightarrow moved). But when we use did not, the action word stays in its simple, original form.

  • did not stopped \rightarrow Wrong
  • did not stop \rightarrow Right

🔢 Counting People

Notice how the story describes groups:

  • Nine people (Total)
  • Seven adults + Two children

When you describe a group at A2 level, always put the Number \rightarrow Person/Thing.
