The "Now" Pattern

In this text, we see a very common way to talk about things happening right now.

The Rule: Use am/is/are + action-ing.

Examples from the text:

  • People are buying... (They are doing it today/this week)
  • Banks are making... (This is happening currently)

Why this helps you reach A2: Beginners often just say "People buy," but using "are buying" shows you can describe a changing situation.

Quick Shift:

  • General fact \rightarrow Banks make money.
  • Current trend \rightarrow Banks are making money.

Simple Word Pairs

Look at how the text connects two ideas using and or too:

  1. And: Health and\text{and} factories (Joining two things)
  2. Too: ...factories too\text{too} (Adding one more thing at the end)

Tip: Use "too" at the end of your sentence to sound more natural when adding information \rightarrow I like coffee, and I like tea too.
