Introduction

Many football fans from other countries are visiting the USA. This brings more money to cities like Boston and Dallas, but it also creates some problems.

Main Body

Many fans from Scotland went to Boston. They bought a lot of beer. Some bars sold out of all their drinks. The fans also walked to a stadium and wore traditional clothes. They gave money to help sick children and music schools.

Fans from England went to Dallas. One pub became too full of people. The police told the fans to leave. The fans were loud and angry for a short time. Later, they helped the staff clean the pub.

The USA is very big. This makes it hard for fans to meet in one place. Also, travel to the USA is very expensive for some people.

Vocabulary Learning

🕒 The 'Past Time' Trick

Look at how the story tells us what happened yesterday or last week. Most words just get an -ed at the end.

  • Walk \rightarrow Walked
  • Help \rightarrow Helped

But wait! Some words are 'rebels' and change completely. You just have to memorize these:

  • Buy \rightarrow Bought
  • Give \rightarrow Gave
  • Become \rightarrow Became

📦 Adding 'More' or 'A Lot'

To describe a large amount of something, use these patterns:

  1. A lot of + [Thing] \rightarrow A lot of beer
  2. Too + [Feeling/Size] \rightarrow Too full / Too expensive
  3. More + [Thing] \rightarrow More money
