🟢 THE POWER OF "WANT"

In this text, we see a very useful pattern for A2 learners. When we talk about goals or desires, we use: Want + Person/Thing or Want + To do something.

1. Wanting a thing (Noun)

  • "They want better teams."
  • "FC Barcelona wants Julian Alvarez."
  • "They want more defenders."

2. Wanting to act (Verb)

  • "They want to win more games."
  • "They want to keep Dominik Szoboszlai."
  • "They want to buy Yan Diomande."

💡 Quick Tip: Notice the 's' in "Barcelona wants".

  • I/You/We/They \rightarrow want
  • He/She/It/The Club \rightarrow wants

Simple Logic: Need something? \rightarrow I want a coffee. Need to move? \rightarrow I want to go home.
