🛠️ The 'Action' Pattern

Look at how the story tells us what happened. It uses a simple pattern: Who \rightarrow Did what.

  • A doctor \rightarrow killed his worker
  • Two men \rightarrow killed a worker
  • Police \rightarrow caught them

Why this helps you: To speak English at an A2 level, you don't need long, fancy sentences. You just need to connect a person (the subject) to an action (the verb).

Word Focus: Past Actions Notice how these words change to show the event is finished:

  • Kill \rightarrow Killed
  • Try \rightarrow Tried
  • Burn \rightarrow Burned
  • Catch \rightarrow Caught

Quick Tip When you want to describe a finished event, add -ed to most action words. If the word is special (like catch), it changes completely to caught.
