The ocean water in the Pacific is very warm. In Australia, this means less rain and more heat. This can cause big fires and dry land.

Look at how the text uses the word "this" to glue ideas together. Instead of repeating a long sentence, the author uses "this" to point back to a fact.

💡 Quick Rule for A2 Students: When you want to explain a result in English, don't always use "so." You can start a new sentence with "This + verb" to sound more clear.
