Introduction

Three states in India are working on new roads, farms, and electricity.

Main Body

Uttar Pradesh wants faster travel. The leaders plan a fast train for Lucknow, Unnao, and Kanpur. They also want a new road because there are too many cars.

In this text, we see a very useful way to talk about goals and desires. We use Want + Something or Want + To Do Something.

1. Want + Thing (Noun)

  • "Uttar Pradesh wants faster travel."
  • "The state leaders want more fertilizer."
  • Pattern: [Person/Place] \rightarrow want \rightarrow [Thing].

2. Want + To + Action (Verb)

  • "They also want to keep all the fertilizer."
  • Pattern: [Person] \rightarrow want \rightarrow to \rightarrow [Action].

💡 Quick Vocabulary Shift

Look at how the text describes things using simple adjectives:

  • Fast train \rightarrow moves quickly.
  • Poor people \rightarrow have very little money.
  • Small villages \rightarrow not big cities.
