💡 The 'Past' Pattern

To reach A2, you must know how to talk about things that already happened. Look at these words from the text:

  • died (die \rightarrow died)
  • killed (kill \rightarrow killed)
  • helped (help \rightarrow helped)
  • attacked (attack \rightarrow attacked)

The Rule: Just add -ed to the end of the action word to move it from now to before.

📦 Counting People & Things

Notice how the writer uses numbers with nouns:

  • One leader
  • Three soldiers
  • Fourth leader
  • 3,000 people

A2 Tip: Always put the number before the person or thing. If there is more than one, add an -s to the word (Soldier \rightarrow Soldiers).
