🟢 The 'Past' Pattern

Look at these words from the story: arrested, spent, used, became.

These words tell us the action is finished. To move toward A2, you need to spot the difference between a regular 'standard' ending and a 'special' change.

1. The Standard Endings (-ed) Most words just add -ed to go back in time:

  • Arrest → Arrested
  • Touch → Touched

2. The Special Changes Some words change completely. You must memorize these:

  • Spend → Spent
  • Become → Became

🛠️ Word Tool: 'Because'

In the text, we see: "They did this because the pool is broken."

Use because when you want to give a reason. It is the bridge between an action and the 'why'.

Action \rightarrow because \rightarrow Reason I am happy \rightarrow because \rightarrow it is sunny.

💡 Quick Vocabulary Flip

  • On purpose \rightarrow You wanted to do it.
  • Natural \rightarrow It happened by itself (no people involved).
