🏆 The "Win/Loss" Pattern

In English, we use did not to show something didn't happen in the past. Notice the change in the words:

  • Positive: "The Prairie School won" \rightarrow (They got the trophy!)
  • Negative: "Xavier did not win" \rightarrow (No trophy for them.)

Crucial Rule: When we use did not, the action word (win) goes back to its simple, present form. We don't say "did not won."

Examples from the text:

  • McFarland won (Positive \rightarrow Past)
  • Kiel did not win (Negative \rightarrow Simple form)

Quick Tip for A2: Use "did not + [simple word]" whenever you want to talk about a fail or a missed opportunity in the past.
