Tensions between Kyiv and Minsk have increased after President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Belarusian communication towers are helping Russian drone attacks. Furthermore, Ukrainian drone forces have identified about 500 strategic targets inside Belarus. In response, President Alexander Lukashenko and Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin asserted that Belarus does not intend to fight, arguing that joining the war would be illogical since the country shares borders with three NATO members. Lukashenko also mentioned a specific high-value target near the border in response to these threats.

Domestically, Russia is trying to solve fuel shortages caused by Ukrainian attacks on energy plants by prioritizing state services over public sales. Additionally, the Kremlin confirmed it is discussing the status of the NIS oil company in Serbia, which is currently affected by US sanctions. To resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Belarus, President Vladimir Putin and President Alexander Lukashenko plan to meet for talks.
