Samsung Electronics is preparing a share buyback program worth approximately 90 trillion won following the completion of wage negotiations with its employees.

The proposed buyback program is a result of a recent agreement between company management and the labor union. According to the terms, the company plans to use about 10.5% of its annual operating profit for stock-based bonuses in the semiconductor division. This financial decision has caused internal discussions regarding fairness and equality within the company. The total cost for these bonuses, including a 40% tax, is estimated at 154 trillion won. To prevent sudden market instability, the company has introduced a phased schedule: employees can sell one-third of their shares immediately, while the rest must be held for one and two years.
