政府最近的決定已啟動德里國家首都領土與勒克瑙市的地鐵系統擴展工程。

Main Body

In Delhi, construction has begun on the Central Vista Metro corridor as part of the Phase-V(A) project. This 9.913-kilometer extension of the Magenta Line will connect R K Ashram Marg to Indraprastha and include nine underground stations. Furthermore, the project will create a triple interchange at the Central Secretariat station, allowing passengers to switch easily between the Magenta, Yellow, and Violet lines. The total cost for Phase-V(A), which includes three corridors totaling 16.07 kilometers, is estimated at ₹12,000 crore. This is funded by the central government, the Delhi government, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Once finished, the Magenta Line will reach 88.4 kilometers, making it the longest line in the Delhi Metro network.

⚡ The 'B2 Shift': From Simple Actions to Complex Systems

At the A2 level, you describe things simply: "The government builds a train." To reach B2, you must stop describing individual actions and start describing processes and systems using the Passive Voice and Formal Nouns.

🔍 The Linguistic Goldmine: The Passive Voice

Look at these phrases from the text:

  • "...construction has begun..."
  • "...this is funded by..."
  • "The contract was awarded to..."

Why this is B2 level: In basic English, we always need a subject (Who did it?). But in professional or academic English, the action is more important than the person.

The Formula: Be (am/is/are/was/were) + Past Participle (V3).

A2 Style: "The government gave the contract to Ranjit Buildcon." (Simple/Basic) B2 Style: "The contract was awarded to Ranjit Buildcon." (Professional/Systemic)

🛠️ Vocabulary Upgrade: 'Heavy' Nouns

B2 students replace simple verbs with "Heavy Nouns" to sound more precise. Notice how the article transforms simple ideas into professional concepts:

A2 Simple ConceptB2 'Heavy' NounContext from Text
Making it biggerExpansion"...expansion of metro rail systems..."
How things connectConnectivity"...improve public transport capacity and connectivity."
A plan for the futureStrategic infrastructure"...implementing these strategic infrastructure projects..."

💡 Pro-Tip for Transition

Next time you want to say "They are making the city better," try: "Infrastructure projects are being implemented to improve the city."

You have just shifted from describing a story (A2) to analyzing a situation (B2).
