Dr. Anil Kumar Rastogi, a Padma Shri award winner, has responded to public discussions about a video showing his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent awards ceremony.

The situation began after a video spread online showing Dr. Rastogi walking toward the stage at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In the footage, Prime Minister Modi offered a handshake, but Dr. Rastogi used a traditional greeting with folded hands and continued walking toward President Droupadi Murmu. Consequently, some political figures, such as Saket Gokhale from the Trinamool Congress, criticized the event and called it a failure in organization.

In response, Dr. Rastogi used the social media platform X to clarify the situation. He emphasized that he did not mean to ignore the handshake, explaining that it was caused by his age—he is over 80 years old—and the stress of receiving such a prestigious honor. Furthermore, he stated that he supports the Bharatiya Janata Party and believes the Prime Minister is a very capable leader, aiming to remove any political tension from the incident.

Aside from this event, Dr. Rastogi is known for his impressive achievements in both art and science. He has appeared in about 1,000 plays, 75 movies, and 500 television shows. At the same time, he has co-authored more than 78 research papers and has a history of helping poor patients through charity work.
