India is currently working on several major trade agreements with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States to improve its access to global markets and strengthen strategic partnerships.

The India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has reached the final legal review stage after negotiations ended in January. German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann stated that the deal is expected to face very little political opposition in the European Parliament. The government plans to sign the agreement during a December meeting, with the goal of fully implementing it by the end of the Indian fiscal year. This deal covers goods, services, and digital trade, and it will remove tariffs on more than 90 percent of traded goods.

Minister Piyush Goyal described the CETA as a balanced framework that is expected to increase annual trade between the two countries by GBP 25.5 billion. Furthermore, the DCC focuses on social security, allowing workers sent abroad to keep their benefit records for up to 60 months. To support these changes, the Indian government is providing 1,000 advisors and improving its trade websites.

Regarding the United States, a temporary trade agreement was reached on February 6, which lowered tariffs on some Indian exports from 25 percent to 18 percent. However, Minister Goyal emphasized that the agreement will not be officially started until India has a clear price advantage over competitors like Vietnam and China. Additionally, India's relationship with Germany has grown in the areas of renewable energy and defense. While the Ambassador noted that oil markets have stabilized and there is hope for Iran's nuclear negotiations, he observed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict remains at a standstill because Russia does not seem ready for diplomatic talks.
