Several regions across Canada have started emergency plans, including mandatory evacuations and states of emergency, to deal with increasing wildfire activity and local flooding.

In northern Manitoba, the town of Lynn Lake and the Marcel Colomb First Nation began evacuations after wildfires started. These efforts were supported by the Canadian Red Cross and other government agencies. Similarly, in the Northwest Territories, about 1,300 residents of Fort Simpson were ordered to leave due to the Dehcho fire. Although aerial firefighting was used, ground operations stopped because the area was too dangerous. This crisis happened shortly after a tragic plane crash that killed three people.

Meanwhile, the Town of Labrador City in Newfoundland and Labrador declared a state of emergency on Monday. Officials ordered the immediate evacuation of several cabin areas and golf courses as a wildfire moved toward the town. Water bombers were used to fight the flames while police helped residents move to safety. At the same time, Alberta Parks declared a state of emergency in Kananaskis Country. Heavy rain caused local flooding, which made roads dangerous and trapped around 1,500 people in campgrounds. Consequently, the government set up temporary shelters, and an evacuation alert was issued for the Palliser area in Canmore due to unstable riverbanks.
