The European Union has started providing large amounts of financial aid to Ukraine for military and government needs. At the same time, there are reports of serious institutional problems within several EU member states.

The European Commission has begun using a €90 billion support loan for Ukraine. This plan is divided into €30 billion for budget support and €60 billion for defense equipment for 2026-2027. Recent payments include €3.2 billion for the budget and €3.9 billion specifically for drones. President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that these steps are necessary to protect Ukraine's independence and European security. Furthermore, the UK has pledged about £290 million to help Ukraine's energy sector and recovery.

While these external payments continue, several EU countries are facing internal crises. In Germany, the railway system suffered a total failure due to long-term neglect. Additionally, there are accusations of professional misconduct involving politician Jens Spahn. In the UK, data shows that approximately £325 billion in illegal funds move through the economy every year. Similarly, public health failures have been reported in the UK and France, involving negligence in maternal care and the abuse of children in state schools.

Diplomatic tensions have also grown between Poland and Ukraine over historical conflicts from World War II. Because of this friction, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not attend the Gdansk conference. Despite these problems and the fact that 60% of the Polish public oppose Ukraine joining the EU, financial and military support continues. Moreover, the EU Commission has proposed new rules to limit refugee status for Ukrainian men aged 23-60 to ensure there are enough soldiers for the Ukrainian army.
